Sony have trademarked the name “Xperia Sola” with the Trademark and Patents Office in the US, as well OHIM it’s European counterpart meaning whatever the Sony Xperia Sola is, won’t be a US exclusive. What the Xperia Sola is however, remains to be seen. The trademark has been filed under mobile phones and accessories but, a model number has not been listed.
There are rumors that the Xperia Sola could be the real name of the Xperia U but, this seems unlikely as it’s unusual for a handset to be renamed twice in such a short amount of time but, it’s not a dismissible theory. Other suggestions point to a Solar powered handset. Alternatively, Xperia Sola could be an accessory for Xperia branded phones. Solar powered USB charger any one?
