Xperia Pro now available to pre-order in the UK

When Sony Ericsson announced their new range of Xperia handsets for 2011, it was revealed that the Xperia Play, Xperia Arc and Xperia Neo would go on sale pretty soon after the announcement, while the Xperia Pro would be released somewhat later in the year. After two months of the Arc and Play being on sale, Sony Ericsson have now put a date on the release of the Xperia Pro, as well as a price.

The Sony Ericsson store for the UK gives the handset a price point of £349.99 and a release date of June, so hopefully should see the handset before the end of the month, as well as mobile phone deals on the handset from the UK networks.

The Xperia Neo and Pro share a similar design, which is similar to that of the already released Xperia Play. However Sony Ericsson have made the screen smaller on the Pro and Neo and it comes in at 3.7″. The main selling point of the Pro, is that it features a slide out QWERTY keyboard which proved to be very popular on the X10 Mini Pro, so the larger sized keyboard on the Pro should be just as successful. The Xperia Pro also features the Mobile BRAVIA display Engine as seen on the Arc, built in HDMI, Android 2.3, an 8 megapixel camera with the Exmor R CMOS sensor (also found on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc) as well as the ability to shoot videos in HD.

On a related note, the Xperia Neo was delayed and as of yet, still doesn’t have a release date. There was a rumor of the handset being released in June but, the SE Store has no release information other than the pricing which is £369.99.
