Trying to become more visible as its launch date nears, the Xperia Play has signed a deal with Major League Gaming to be its official handset. The deal will make the Xperia Play present in all 6 of the Major League Gaming Pro Circuit Events (U.S. only).
During these events the Android powered smartphone from Sony Ericsson will be heavily featured. Demonstrations on its features, game challenges and various giveaways will be enjoyed by all participants.
Pete Farmer, the head of marketing for North America, says that Sony Ericsson is excited to be in partnership with Major League Gaming to make gamers aware of the capabilities of the Xperia Play. The company is also sponsoring two gamers for the 2011 season.
The Xperia Play is one of the most anticipated Xperia smartphone to be released this year. What makes this model special is that it is designed as a gaming smartphone. It will be able to play PlayStation One games as well as Android games available in the Android Market. When the unit will be released, there will already by a total of 50 gaming titles available for download coming from various game publishing companies.
