A photo is currently circulating on the Internet of Sony Ericsson Xperia device. This might seem normal at first however it clearly shows the model running on Windows Phone 7 (WP7). The photo seems to originate over at the Esato forum. The WP7 model features a slide out QWERTY keyboard that resembles the Xperia X10 mini pro however its size looks more like an Xperia X10.
There are still no details on what this phone is and we still don’t know if it is a prototype or a ready for production model. Contacting Sony Ericsson over this will not clear out questions regarding this model since they have a policy of not commenting on rumors.
We have gathered several rumored specifications of this device however which include a 1 GHz snapdragon processor, 800×480 resolution, 8 MP camera and 8 GB of internal storage.
If Sony Ericsson will be using Microsoft’s WP7 in one of their models then they might be anticipating the entry of Nokia smartphones using WP7. Earlier this year Nokia partnered with Microsoft to bring WP7 smartphones to the market, dropping their Symbian platform which has become unpopular due to its outdated interface.
If the photo is not a work of someone with great Photoshop editing skills then we might be hearing more about this model in the days to come.
