One of Sony Ericsson’s upcoming Android smartphones being showcased at the Mobile World Congress is the Xperia Pro. Although it is overshadowed by the Xperia Play which is being heavily promoted, this model does have many powerful features that sets it apart from other Xperia models.
Sony Ericson’s Product Manager says that the Xperia Pro is the successor of the Vivaz Pro which was released last year. This new model will come with new useful features and innovations thanks to the Android 2.3 Gingerbread that it will be running straight out of the box. It is aimed primarily for users who constantly send out emails and text messages and want a physical keyboard to increase their productivity.
This model has a QWERTY keypad that slides from the side. It has a 3.7 inch screen that uses Mobile Bravia Technology for superior picture display. It has an 8.1 MP camera that uses an Exmor R sensor and is capable of recording 720p videos. Under the hood is a 1 GHz processor with 320 MB of RAM. The internal storage capacity is only 128 MB but you can further increase this up to 32 GB using a microSD card.
Expect the Xperia Pro to make its way to stores by the second quarter of this year. The price will be similar as that of the Vivaz Pro when it was released last year.
