Battle of the Xperia’s: X10 processor vs. X12 processor

We are going to put to the test two of the best Sony Ercisson phones the Xperia X10 and the Xperia X12. For this test we will only consider their processing power. Although the X12 is still not available in the market we all know what processor it will be using. The battle is between the X10 using a Qualcomm QSD8250 vs. the X12 using a Qualcomm MSM 7230. Let’s see how they fare against each other based on the numbers.

Speed: X10 at 1GHz, X12 at 800 MHz

Verdict: X10 wins over the X12 by a margin of 200 MHz

Network: X10 has integrated 3G and HSPA 7.2 Mbps, X12 has integrated 3G and HSPA+ 14 Mbps

Verdict: X12 wins this round with its fasters HSPA data connection

Process: X10 uses 65nm technology, X12 uses 45 nm technology

Verdict: X12 wins this for its low power consumption

Video: X10 supports 720p HD at 30 fps, X12 supports 720p HD at 30 fps

Verdict: Tie

Graphics: X10 can render 22M triangles/sec and 133M 3D pixels/sec, X12 can render 41M triangles/sec and 245M 3D pixels/sec

Verdict: X12 wins by a wide margin

GPS Engine: X10 uses 7th generation, X12 uses 8th generation

Verdict: X12 wins for using the latest engine

Final Verdict:

In the 6 tests conducted on their processor performance the X12 processor won 4 while the X10 processor only won 1 while 1 test was a tie. Even if the X10 uses a 1GHz processor it is easily beaten by the 800 MHz processor used by the X12.
