Vodafone and Sony Ericsson have confirmed that the Xperia Ray handset is definitely due to be released in Australia on September 28th.
Details regarding Sony’s video rental service being available out of the box with the Xperia Ray in Australia have also emerged including news that Australian companies Hopscotch and Madman will add their distributable movies to the list of movies already available on the service. Music Unlimited, Sony’s own music downloads service will also be available on the Ray in Australia and both services will come pre installed on the handset giving access to over 10 million music tracks and almost 9000 movies to rent or to buy via the Xperia Ray. There are two packages available on the music service – the basic plan at AU$4.99 monthly or the premium plan at AU$12.99 monthly.
As for pricing of the Xperia Ray, zdnet have posted that the handset should be available for AU$5 a month on the AU$29 or AU$45 a month Vodafone contracts or for free on the AU$49 cap or AU$65 a month Infinite contract. Vodafone are yet to confirm this information.
