Xperia Play Release Delayed on O2 Network

So many of us are waiting (im)patiently for the official launch of the all singing, all dancing Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, which is due to be released on the 1st of April. Unfortunately, if you have plans to pick up one of the new Xperia Play handsets on UK network O2, you may be in for a longer wait and if you were looking to purchase one of the white Xperia Play’s then you will have no choice to wait as they are an O2 exclusive.
O2 have announced that they are delaying the launch of the Xperia Play on their network due to flaws in the software. Although they haven’t specifically stated what the ‘flaws’ or ‘bugs’ are as yet, O2 has been quoted as saying that “The issues we found identified all areas of the Play’s customer experience.”.
As none of the other mobile networks have reported any problems with the Xperia Play and no other delays have been reported thus far, we are left to wonder if the flaws concern the integration of O2′s own software with that of the Xperia Play, rather than any fault with the actual handset.
