Every since we saw the Xperia Ion ad on Google, there’s been much speculation that AT&T and Sony would be releasing the Xperia Ion this month in the US but, until now neither company had given any official word on release date. That has now changed and we can confirm that the Xperia Ion will finally arrive in the US on June 24th. Despite the US being the first country to be confirmed to release the handset back in January, both Hong Kong and Taiwan have released the handset already, shortly after announcing they would be launching the phone.
You will be able to pick the Xperia Ion up through AT&T from June 24th on a two year contract for $99. The handset will ship with Android 2.3.7 out of the box but, with Android 4.0 already rolling out to 2011 Xperia models and the Xperia S roll out to follow soon, it shouldn’t be too long until Ice Cream Sandwich is on the Xperia Ion.
