Xperia X10 Android 2.2 petitionThe Xperia X10 is a popular handset and the first Android powered handset from Sony Ericsson but, one thing which has let the handset down is the old firmware. The Xperia X10 comes pre-installed with Android 1.6, with 2.1 promised for the end of year. However a lot of apps require 2.1, which means the X10 hasn’t got as vast a supply of apps as other handsets.

With the announcement of Android 2.2 and the update already rolled out onto some handsets, a petition has been started online, asking Sony Ericsson to include an upgrade to Android 2.2 instead of 2.1 when they release the update to the handset.

Update: Almost a year later, Sony Ericsson released Android 2.1 to the X10 at the end of October, then announced that the X10 would stay at 2.1 but, with the huge uproar that came from that announcement, Sony Ericsson have confirmed that they will be updating the X10 to Android 2.3.     I would very much like to see this happen too. But a couple of hundred people is just a drop in the ocean, I wouldn’t expect too much from this petition tbh.

    Keep bombarding Sony Ericsson regarding not upgrading to Android 2.2. As buyers become more sophisticated they won’t deal with companies that don’t upgrade their products. The current Xperia X10 needs the upgrade to 2.2 so that voice activation works.

    This attitude of not releasing updates for a phone that was just bought (jan 2011) and it’s still for sale leaves a very bad impression for me or any future costumer for a new phone in the future…

    It looks like Sony doesn’t care about it’s current costumers…

      It has multi touch, well dual touch which does the job. You can’t change the screen on a phone though. I do agree it should get Android 2.2 though.

    Sharpen up SE! Give us 2.2 or 3 so that we can make full use of the phone. Right the x10 mini pro has to little memory so you must give us the possibility to relocate installed applications to the SD card!

      It is true, how can we buy or instal new apps if we have no space for them? How to use the GPS if the 30Mb downloads dont fit on the phone? They are completly mad.. The should write on the box when you buy:” very few memory for apps”. So the costumers are well informed.

    2.2 ISNT A small update, it provides faster app rsponse, possibility to instal on SD, bluetooth improvemnts, etc.. I hope sonyericsson knows how to work with software from Android and knows how to read specs. Why all other mobile brands are upgrading system and SE isnt?? Is it because of the new mini models? Does SE only care about moneymaking and not of its costumers?

    people have been on at SE for months about this you think they actually care? there waiting for the “storm” to blow over and hope that it dies down they probably wont ever release 2.2+ for experia family… get over it.. i have the mini pro iv actually come to realise its time for a new mobile other than SE its just that simple accept the fact ule never get the updates and root ure phone flash it ureself or buy a new one dont get ure hopes up for anything official they already have copys of the minis with new proccessors in them SE see these new phones as “our” next option to upgrade firmware.

    I bought my mini pro 3 monts ago, and it’s so beutiful, nd functional, i get proud when i take it out from my pocket, so little and goood to use, u can see that Im in love for it, other people who bought this phone feels the same, Im sure, an those who want have this phone want it at all cost. Here at Brazil, this phone have the cost near on $400 dollars!!!!!….can u imagine how frustrant and sad would be if we and those who dream with this phone stay stoped on time, seeing other with Motorola, Samsung phones faster as never with the ultimate android’s upgrade…..SO, please, Sony Ericsson, MAKE US BELIEVE!

    For the FIRST time in my life I bought a Sony Ericsson phone the Xperia X10 mini pro, thinking it’s from SONY the best company, giving amazing quality. but when i learned that there would be no further updates on the mini pro i was thoroughly disappointed. Now i feel like a Dunce to have bought that phone…. I mean if only i could get Gingerbread on that phone… That would be the best phone for me in the world…. I should’ve bought an HTC not the bs SE i am sorry Sony but i will buy no further products from you. Just to disappointing…. And I personally think XDA should start making phones they’d excel more than bs Sony.! My last words for Sony… Fuck you to the ends of the earth.! My heart cries everyday for the mini pro… because it has no further updates.. And i won’t be getting a new phone for another mother fucking year.! so fuck you Sony… just fuck you.!

    I got it in summer , sure of officia lson ericcons advice that there will be an update over 2.1 first of 2012. Happy New year! I will never buy more SE.
