You can currently purchase the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc through Amazon for £389.99 (and £4.59 shipping). However, it isn’t currently being sold directly by Amazon. Instead, you can purchase the handset from third party sellers (who can charge postage on any item) as the item is under review by Amazon. According to Amazon, the product isn’t offered by them because a customer recently told them that the item he or she received was not as described. They go on to say that they are working as quickly as possible to resolve this but, for the mean time the item may still be available through over sellers.

O2 are the only network in the UK to have not released the Xperia Play yet and for a while the Xperia Arc was also listed as coming soon. A week ago though, O2 added the Xperia Arc to it’s online shop and was ready to buy and said it was in stock.

Now that we have all seen the Xperia Arc which was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics show (CES) 2011, we finally have its official specifications. After going through it we were pleased with what we saw although a bit disappointed that it will be released running Android 2.3 Gingerbread and not Android 2.4 Honeycomb which we were hoping for. As to when it will be upgraded to Android 2.4 is anyone’s guess since Sony Ericsson usually takes a long time to release an official upgrade to the Xperia line.

While the handset has only just been announced, the Xperia Arc had previously been spotted. With the announcement came confirmation that the Sony Ericsson Arc would come with Android 2.3, the latest version of Google Android available. However more images have surfaced of the handset, this time showing the X10 successor running Android 2.4. Android 2.4 is currently unreleased by Google. Android 2.4 will also be known as Gingerbread, just like 2.3 but, a different iteration. This will come before Google release Android 3.0, aka Honeycomb.

We’ve heard of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X12 for a while now, also known as the Xperia Anzu. Yesterday we heard that the handset would officially be known as the Xperia Arc, the name given to it based on it’s design. Today, Sony Ericsson have officially unveiled and announced the next Xperia handset, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc.
