O2 state that they had problems while testing the software on the phones and found the update caused problems with the camera. They have worked with Sony Ericsson to resolve this issue and go on to say that the update will be released via the Sony Ericsson PC Companion in a week. They do however warn that as the X10 was only really meant to work with Android 2.2 so, if you do update to Android 2.3, the X10 may run slower than you’re used to and advise that you should be sure about updating as it’s an irreversible action. Currently the O2 branded Xperia X10s are running Android 2.1.

OK, so the Xperia X10 may be old news now and will not have any further Android updates above 2.3.3. However, Rogers have the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 on a rather tempting price plan.

Rogers are offering the Xperia X10 for $25.50 a month when taking out a twelve month contract with them. Minimum pricing is $32.35 a month. To put that in perspective, the Xperia Arc is available on a one year contract but, the actual handset will cost $499.99 and $449.99 if you go with a two year contract.

Unlocking the bootloader is a risky process however and should be done with much caution. If you don’t have confidence in your ability to go ahead and unlock your own handset’s bootloader then the advice would be to just not do it. By clicking a button while in the menu you can uninstall apps by pressing the “X” button. When viewing the Widget overview the widgets now float and when you shake the phone, the widgets fly over the screen.

Not only does the new home launcher work on the Xperia Arc, Play and Neo, it also works on the Xperia X10. You can download the apk from here and install it using a file manager such as Astro.

It doesn’t take much to make an interesting and addictive game. The main thing is the idea. When the idea is ready then work can start on the development of the game and throw in some simple controls and graphics so that people of all age groups can play with the same level of interest. Rovio has made just the right thing in the shape of Angry Birds which is gaining immense popularity all over the world. After computers now it can also be played on mobiles because it has been added to the Android market place. It is a very interesting mobile game having a number of different and easy levels. Our main objective is to kill all the pigs by hitting them with the birds provided. You lose if you run out of birds. As you advance in the game new types of birds are unlocked.

Farm Frenzy

Farm frenzy is a strategy game in which we basically have to manage our farm. There are geese and other different type of animals which are to be provided with grass and other food so that they can produce eggs, milk etc. As we feed our animals and collect things from them, we gain points and the level increases.

In the first level our main objective is to collect a certain amount of eggs from the geese. The geese will produce eggs when we feed it with sufficient amount of grass. Eggs can be collected by tapping on the screen at the location of eggs. As the game advances new animals and options are unlocked in the market.

The graphics of this game are good. As we advance in the game, on screen instructions constantly guide us how to play or inform us about any new unlocked option.

In the end I would say that my experience with this game has been good and quite interesting. It is an addictive game and I recommend it for all android users.

Diner Dash

Diner Dash is also a very interesting and which can be played and enjoyed by people of all ages. In this game we are basically a waitress who has little time and a lot of different tasks to do. Due to the rushing of the waitress for every task this game is called Diner Dash.

Following are some of the tasks that are to be performed by the waitress.

1. Drop menus
2. Take orders
3. Take customers to the proper table
4. Drop orders in the kitchen
5. Arrange baby seat
6. Clean the floor
7. Take dirty dishes to the sink

From the above list you can imagine how much the waitress will have to rush. The main reason of this rushing is that customers start to get angry as their required work gets late. Different customers have different temperaments. Some of them get angry very soon and some are a bit cool minded. The amount of tip depends upon that how much the customer was angry. If the angriness is higher then the amount of tip will be less and vice versa.

As you advance in the game espresso machines and other things are unlocked which help you gain more bonuses. The game has different levels, each with a different objective.

The day that Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 owners in the US have been waiting for and perhaps even praying for as there were many times when we didn’t think this day would come at all for the x10, has arrived – Gingerbread aka Android version 2.3 is here!

Gingerbread for the Xperia X10 brings the Facebook inside Xperia feature which basically integrates Facebook into your handset, USB tethering, app tray sorting and the ability to use the X10 as a portable WiFi hotspot, amongst other features.

In order to update your X10, you need to use the Sony Ericsson PC Companion software on your computer plus you need to own an unbranded version of the Xperia X10 handset – the update is not yet available for the AT&T locked handsets.

Before jumping in and updating, be aware that by doing so, the following will happen to your handset:

*User data, such as contacts, messages and more, saved in your phone memory will be overwritten. User data saved on the phone’s memory card is not affected.

*DRM content will be overwritten.

*The Backup and Restore app will be overwritten and cannot be used to restore data. Check out Android Market for alternative apps to back up and restore your data, such as MyBackup.

*The Creatouch, Neoreader and Quadrapop apps will be removed.

*Mediascape, homescreen operator customization and app tray operator customization will no longer be supported.

*Moxier Exchange will be replaced by Android 2.3 Gingerbread Exchange support.

The update doesn’t bring any added features that other countries didn’t receive. The 2.1 update increases the number of homescreens from three to five and also adds the abilitiy to record videos in 720p.

Users are reporting that a new update for the Xperia X10 has been released. The update brings the build number up to 2.1.B.0.1 which was certified on the PTCRB site on May 24th. The baseband version has also changed to 2.1.67.

There isn’t much information on what the update does but, users are reporting an improvement in battery life, as well as over all performance.

The new market sees the “My App” icon replaced with a phone icon and the words Sony Ericsson. Clicking on this will show you various Sony Ericcson apps, like Xperia Hot Shots, or Timescape extensions and also apps supported by your handset, such as FourSquare, TweetDeck, SwiftKey Keyboard and many more. For those who use the my apps icon frequently, you will now need to press the menu icon and select “my apps” that way to view what you currently have downloaded on your handset.

This update has been seen on the Xperia Play, Xperia Arc and Xperia X10 in the UK. Let us know in the comments if you’ve also noticed this change on other handsets or other regions.

Update: Sony Ericsson have posted on their product blog to confirm the addition of the “Sony Ericsson Channel” within the Android Market, meaning it should appear on all Xperia handsets running Android in all regions. Thanks for the comments as well guys.

When Sony Ericsson announced that they would not be upgrading the Xperia X10 past Android 2.1, this left a lot of users very angry and caused many to swear they’d never go back to Sony Ericsson. In light of this, Sony Ericsson have listened to the feedback and have today confirmed that the Xperia X10 will be updated past Android 2.1.

They will skip Android 2.2 and move straight onto 2.3, which is currently the latest version of Android available. The work they’ve done with the new line of handsets, the Xperia Arc, Neo and Play has enabled them to work with Android 2.3 and gave them a solution to making 2.3 possible on the X10. The update will be Android 2.3.3 and will become available from the end of Q2/early Q3.

While this is great news for Xperia X10 owners, the X10 Mini, X10 Mini Pro and X8 will not be updated past Android 2.1. Also, while the X10 will receive another Android update, increasing the handset’s lifespan, it will be the final update to Android according to the company. Sony Ericsson will continue to upgrade their new products past 2.3 however.

Moxier will not be included in the 2.3 update and instead will use the Gingerbread native EAS functionality. Mediascape will also be replaced by the media experience widgets and music player, found in Sony Ericsson’s new line of Xperia products.

Gingerbread does not support the Sony Ericsson Backup and Restore feature so this will be lost once upgraded, likewise some Sony Ericsson camera functions will be lost, such as smile shutter and face recognition. Instead the X10 will use the standard Android camera interface.
