If you’ve signed up to receive emails from Sony Ericsson, either through their support website or forums, or through Facebook chances are you may have received an email from them recently offering you so much off an Xperia Arc S or Xperia Ray.
While this initially sounds like great news, there are unfortunately two failings to this promotion. Firstly, my partner received an email offering 10% off the purchase price of an Xperia Arc S, or a Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray but, I then received an email offering me only 5% off with a different promotional code. A bit later on, another email that I’ve used with Sony Ericsson also received the email, this time with a 15% discount.

The annual CES event is taking place in Las Vegas this week. The trade show is running between January 10th and 13th but, Sony have a press event planned for today where new Xperia models are set to be announced.
The press event is due to start at 5pm GMT and you can watch the press event live from Sony’s website here. We’re expecting to see “something big” which is likely to come in the form on an Xperia Arc successor. Other Xperia models that are expected to be unveiled include an Xperia Neo successor as well as an Xperia Mini successor.

We’ve seen many, many price drops for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, while the Xperia Arc and Arc S remained at a relatively high price. Until now that it. Carphone Warehouse have the Xperia Arc S available for £269.99 sim free, which is a good price but, another UK retailer is offering the handset for as low as £199.99.
With Phones4U you can do a pay as you go upgrade, which means providing them with a pay as you go number which hasn’t been used for an upgrade in the last 6 months (terms vary by network) and get the phone for just £199.99 and Phones4U handsets are unlocked. Pay as you go upgrades can only be done in store. Alternatively, if you haven’t got a pay as you go number you can use, they are doing the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S for £229.99 with a £10 top up.

Despite their recent ‘boo-boo’ when they mistakenly posted news of their offering of 50GB of cloud storage space free for Xperia owners, Sony Ericsson have moved to confirm that the offer should go live soon, just not as soon as they announced it would on their official blog.
Xperia handset owners should, at some point in the near future, be entitled to a whopping 50GB of storage, via an app on Xperia handsets (which will be downloaded from the Android Market) through cloud storage provider Box in a deal struck between themselves and Sony Ericsson.

EA and Sony Ericsson are offering Xperia Play customers an all new exclusive title in the form of the hugely popular football game Fifa 12. To top off the excitement, the game is also free to download and will be exclusive to the Xperia Play until February 21st next year.
“With FIFA 12, fans of football can expect improved gameplay depth, authentic commentaries, updated teams from the world’s top leagues, and all new replay systems and stadium designs to enhance the FIFA experience” – Sony Ericsson
As expected, the game includes the same style of gameplay that was found in Fifa 10 and Fifa 11 on the Xperia Play as it is optimized fully for use on the handset, using it’s unique control system and game pad. Fifa 12 can be downloaded now (from the game launcher on the Xperia Play) and it’s a big download, over 1.5GB, so a Wi-Fi connection will probably be required.
