Over at the Mobile World Congress which is happening now, Texas Instruments and Ant Wireless are showcasing the Xperia Arc, the first commercially available smartphone that natively supports Ant+. This technology allows for a mobile device to communicate with various health and fitness devices and collect data in real time and transmit it to the cloud for extensive analysis.

We heard a few days ago that Sony Ericsson would have an announcement for us today, Sunday February 13th. The event has now taken place and was viewable through Facebook. What did Sony Ericsson have in store? Three new Xperia handsets is what. We’ve already seen a lot about the Xperia Play, even before the Super Bowl commercial. However a few more details were given today.

A lot of people are eagerly waiting for the official unveiling of the Xperia play to occur a day before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) officialy starts. Did you know that there will be another Xperia smartphone to be announced during this event as well? The Xperia Neo aka the Vivaz 2 is also rumored to be making an appearance.

Those who are excited about the official launch of the Xperia Play may now attend the event through Sony Ericsson’s Facebook page. The launch is set to begin this February 13 which also coincides with the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2011. There is still no official word from Sony Ericsson if the announcement will be made at the MWC but people are already expecting it to be made at the MWC since this is one of the largest events this year on mobile technology.

The official announcement of Sony Ericsson’s latest model, the Xperia Play, might come sooner than we think. It was previously speculated that the device will debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2011 this February 14 to 17 at Barcelona, Spain. This changed however when a creative director for McCann Worldgroup has revealed during an interview with ABC News Nightline that they have been closely working with Sony Ericsson to place an ad during Super Bowl XLV this coming Sunday.
