xperia play on verizon for free

Not to panic anyone looking to purchase an Xperia Play but, US carrier Verizon are offering the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play handset for free to customers who sign up for a new 2 year contract before October 6th, yes that’s tomorrow in the States!

Initially the handset was available on Verizon for $199.99 but, the company has been reducing the Xperia Play steadily over the past eight months since it was released to $99.99 and then more recently to $49.99  to match the price of the deal offered by rival carrier AT&T. Now however, Verizon are offering a $49.99 discount on the handset along with a $50 online discount which means buyers can pick up the Xperia Play for free when signing up for a new contract online. We’ve seen a few deals pop up for Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Ray which was recently released in the UK. The majority of the mobile phone contract deals involved a 24 month contract commitment, taking the total price well over the £300 that the Xperia Ray is available for sim free. UK network operator Talk Mobile however, have a very interesting offer available.

Talk Mobile are offering the handset for free on a £25 a month contract and the commitment is only 12 months. This will make the total cost over the year only £300, the same as getting a sim free Xperia Ray, which essentially makes the contract free. Instead of paying £300 upfront, you could spread the cost over 12 months and get 300 minutes, 1GB of mobile data and 1000 texts.

arc sale

Ending on the 30th of September, O2 currently have one of their ‘flash sales’ running and up for grabs this time round are both the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and Xperia Arc handsets.

The cheapest price offered for the Xperia Play, to receive a free handset, is a £24 a month contract which includes a £3 a month data bundle which can be removed after the first month leaving £21 a month to pay that way. The Arc is priced fantastically, being available with a free handset on a £13.50 a month contract and the same data bundle applies which means buyers can pick up the Xperia Arc for just £10.50 a month over 24 months, after the first month at £13.50.
