Coming less than a month after the availability of the Xperia Ray in the country and with an estimated delivery date of the 4th week in October, Indian online retailer flipkart have listed the highly anticipated new sporty handset from Sony Ericsson – the Xperia Active – on their website as a pre-order.

Also known as the ST17i, the Xperia Active is a new addition to the Xperia range and it’s features include a 5 mega pixel camera and both water and dust resistance. The handset comes preinstalled with version 2.3 of the Android operating system.

Pricing for the Xperia Active is Rs. 19990 which includes free delivery and a free bluetooth headset. If purchased through flipkart, it is also possible to pay cash on delivery.

Indian retailer LetsBuy now have the all new Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray in stock to buy in the country.  We reported the news that the Xperia Ray would be coming to India back in August and this is the first sign of the handset being available for sale.

LetsBuy have both the black and gold color variations up for sale and both colors cost the same price which is Rs.18,995. Sony Ericsson have announced the launch of two of their flagship mobile phones, the ‘all rounder’ Xperia Ray and the ‘sports oriented’ Xperia Active, on the Indian mobile market.

Both phones use Android 2.3 as their operating system and use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 2 processor. Where as the Xperia Ray is more of an all round solid performer, similar to the mighty Xperia Arc but, with a 3.3 inch screen and boasting a quality 8.1 mp camera, the Xperia Active is an all out sports phone full of sports apps including iMapMyFitness, a 3 inch screen and a 5mp camera.

Xperia Arc owners in India can now update their handsets to run Android operating system version 2.3.3, according to androidos.in.

Currently running on Android 2.3 aka gingerbread, the Arc update brings the 2.3.3 feature “Facebook inside Xperia” along with other tweaks to the touch responsiveness and battery life along with software enhancement to hopefully make the Arc smoother to use.

The update is initially available via the Sony Ericsson PC Companion suite for Indian customers.

The X10 is available in the UK on all networks; Orange, Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile, Three and Virgin Mobile. All networks will sell the black model, while the white model is an exclusive to Orange.
