
Well Sony Ericsson did say “from the end of October” for the Android 2.1 and the end of October it is. Unfortunately, the very end of October. At least we now have a date for the Android 2.1 update though.

One of the members from the XDA-Developer forums, unknown13x has posted some screenshots of the Xperia X10 running Android 2.1. In the screenshots we get to see how the layout has changed, the new shade of blue for the backgrounds. A few things have been blurred out as it will apparently be a surprise for us when Sony Ericsson release the update. Specific features aren’t mention in case Sony Ericsson decide not to release those features in the consumer updates. As you can see from the above screenshot, the build number is different to the approved firmwares we’ve seen on PTCRB, with this X10 running 2.0.A.0.497.
The last screenshot also shows us what screen will appear when you go to add a picture frame widget. You can view all of the screenshots after the jump.

Assuming there’s no more delays for Android 2.1, we should be seeing the Xperia X10 range updated to a higher version of Android within the next couple of weeks. Things seem to be on track, as Rikard Skogberg has posted a few videos up of an Xperia X10 running Android 2.1, aka Eclair.
