O2 UK release Android 2.1 update for X10 owners

Owners of the Xperia X10 in the UK with O2 branded handsets will be pleased to know that O2 have finally released the Android 2.1 update. It took longer than most would hope it would but, it’s finally here. So if you’ve got an O2 branded Xperia X10, X10 Mini or X10 Mini Pro, you should now be able to update your handset from Android 1.6 to Android 2.1.

While I’m sure many were sure O2 would be the last network in the UK to release this update, this isn’t the case. T-Mobile users are still awaiting the Android upgrade, as are Vodafone customers. T-Mobile have however assured customers that the update will begin rolling out some time during next week.

On Tesco Mobile (piggy backing on o2 network) and no 2.1 update. Lack of clear info about this is very frustrating!

Hmm. I’m on Tesco too, still no update. I’ve tried both PC companion and SEUS (sony ericsson update service) with no avail, the SI number behind the battery compartment is listed on the Sony Ericsson website as available for the 2.1 upgrade but my phone remains 1.6

I’ve emailed Tesco/o2 who reckon its sony ericssons responsibility but they wont even respond. We’ve always had sony ericsson phones and had great (and fast – within 24hours) support, but its all silent when you mention x10 mini pro.
