Sony have revealed that there will be two new Xperia handsets available to purchase in the UK very soon, in the form of the Xperia P and Xperia U mobile smartphones.

Both handsets should be on the market by the end of May if the listings by UK retailer Clove are correct. The company has both models up for preorder with stock coming in on the 28th of May. As for pricing the Xperia U is priced at £204 and is available in white or black. The Xperia P is more expensive at £330 and comes in black or silver colour choices. Clove also have gel cases available to purchase for the handsets which will both come sim free/ unlocked to a carrier.

Following on from the Sony Xperia P and Sony Xperia U product pages going live on SonyMobile.com, Sony have now posted the Press Release for the press event at Mobile World Congress 2012. The press release details the main specifications and features of both handsets, such as the bottom cap design and illuminating bar on the Xperia U.

Only moments after both the Sony Xperia P and Xperia U were announced, the official product page for both products has gone live on the Sony Mobile website.

The Xperia U features a 3.5″ Reality display with a 1GHz dual core processor and 5 megapixel camera. The transparent bar illuminates different colors based on what music your listening to, or what photos you’re looking at. It will change color to match your media and Sony dubbed it a “magically smartphone”.

Sony have now officially announced the Sony Xperia P and Xperia U. Full specifications coming up soon. Sony have also confirmed that the Xperia ION which was tagged as being a US exclusive will be available outside of the US from Summer 2012. According to findings on what is deemed to be the Indonesian version of the FCC in the US, Mobile88 have posted regarding the unveiling of the names that Sony will be releasing their formerly codenamed ‘LT22i Nypon’ and ST25i Kumquat handsets when they go into the open market.

Codename LT22i Nypon and codename ST25i Kumquat will from now on be known as the Sony Xperia P  and the Sony Xperia U smartphones respectively.
